I have the honour to submit this my humb1@

petition for acting pay under Hongkong General Order 93 (Colonial Regulation 54 (3) (a) ) in respect of

my performance of the full duties of the office of

Assessor of Rates in addition to the full duties of

the Estate Duty Commissioner's office from November

12th 1927 to January 2nd 1928 ingžusive and from

April 27th 1929 on.

2. I have already applied to the Colonial

Secretary of Hongkong in the sense above stated

(paragraph 1) on June 22nd last but have so far

received no reply to my application.

The facts are as follows:-

Kr. J. Ring whose full time from January

3rd 1928 to April 26th 1929 was occupied with the

management of the Assessor's Office went on long

leave on full pay on April 27th last. I had

been told by the Hon. Mr. Ma I, Messer (Colonial

Treasurer, Collector of Stamp Revomie, Assessor of

Rates and Estate Duty Commissioner) that I would be

required to perform Mr. Ring's duties during his absence in addition to my own duties of (1) Officer in Charge of the Estate Duty Commissioner's office and

(2) Assistant Colonial Treasurer, which duties had occupied my full time since January 3rd 1928, I took

up the additional duties on April 27th lant.

The duties of the Assessor's Office are

greatest during the Annus2 General Assessment
